34,182 agents and 43,208 projects registered under RERA, Maharashtra tops the list
A total of 34,182 real estate agent and 43,208 real estate projects have registered under RERA across India. As per the latest statistics, Maharashtra is at the top of the list with 20,841 registered agents with 21, 742 registered projects.
Till now, around 30 states and union territories have notified under RERA. Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkim are under process to notify the code.
Whereas, West Bengal has enacted its own West Bengal Housing Industry Regulation Act, 2017. However, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has advised the state to notify the rules under the Real Estate (Regulation & Development) Act, 2016.
According to the data of the ministry, 20 regular and nine interims, in total, 29 states/UTs set up the Real Estate Regulatory Authority. While Lakshadweep is under process to establish it and 13 Regular and nine interims, in total 22 states/UTs have set up Real Estate Appellate Tribunal.
Assam, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Kerala and Lakshadweep are under process to establish the Real Estate Appellate Tribunal. Haryana has two Regulatory Authorities, one at Gurugram and other at Panchkula for rest of Haryana.
As per the data, 20,975 cases have been disposed of till now by the authority.
