Energize Your New Home With These Griha Pravesh Tips
Griha Pravesh is a Vedic ritual done when entering a new house. It is seen as a holy practice, to withdraw negative energy and doshas from entering your house.
It also brings good fortune and positivity, and keeps away ailments the family might suffer from. A Griha Puja has a dedicated date called “mahurat” when conducting the ceremony is most fruitful. Diwali is seen as an appropriate occasion for home welcoming. During the festive season, it is believed that Lord Ganesh and Goddess Laxmi enters into the houses, and make them holy, granting riches to a family who prays devotedly.
Here are some tips for your Griha Pravesh Puja:
Being a festive tradition, rangoli is a colorful art of floor decoration, usually made at the entry, with rice flour or colors. The practice of rangoli making depicts the welcoming of Goddess Lakshmi. The design patterns and colors used in the making also hold different meanings.
Decorate your Home
A home that is well-decorated, invites positive energy and removes negativity from the environment. Ensure that your home is properly adorned, well-lit and ventilated with a welcoming fragrance, on the day you perform the Griha Pravesh.
Decorate The main door
The main door is the opening through which positive energy enter your house. Sacred symbols like swastika and Laxmi feet, should be drawn at the entrance. As the entry gate is called Simha Dwara, it is the face of the Vastu Purush. “A toran (originating from the Sanskrit word ‘torana’, meaning the sacred gateway), which is made of fresh mango leaves and marigold flowers, should be hung on the doorway” advises Vastu Consultant, Parmar.
Step in with your right foot forward
While entering the house, always put your right foot first, as it is believed to be a sign of prosperity according to the Hindu tradition. “The temple in the house should be in the north-east zone and should be fixed on day of the house warming,” adds Parmar.
Keep the idols in the right direction
The Pooja house should be established strategically, as it will provide greater benefit if the idols are placed in the right direction. East-facing direction is considered most suitable to increase positive energy flow.
Griha Pravesh is auspicious, expected to provide stability and positivity. Having mental and spiritual benefits, it is a form of prayer that not only gives us strength, and fortune but also riddance from negativity.
