Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation invites smart city plan ideas
GHAZIABAD: Ghaziabad is gearing up to grab a spot on the second list of cities in the Centre’s smart city mission. The civic body invited suggestions and recommendations from the public on Monday to revise its proposal for the second round. GMC is set to send the proposal to the urban development ministry before June 30.
“The suggestions can be sent through the civic body’s website or through the website, . Suggestions can be given on specific areas of the city that need to be developed under the mission. The suggestions, along with the older proposal,
will be sent to the newly appointed consultant to prepare the plan,” a senior official of the civic body said.
According to GMC, the services of the Germany-based Dorsch have been terminated for the second round. The civic body has hired another firm, KPMG, as its consultant to prepare the new proposal. Officials said most UP cities have appointed new consultants to prepare proposals for the second round. Civic bodies in the state have generally appointed those consultants who had designed proposals for the cities that were shortlisted in the first round.
Ghaziabad had failed to make it to the list of 20 cities that were selected in the first round of the smart city mission in January. The city was ranked at 87 on the list, topped by Bhubaneshwar.
