KOLKATA: West Bengal BJP unit on Thursday accused a section of ruling party leaders of indulging in a real estate syndicate that is fast spreading its tentacles in the city and its suburbs.
Releasing a video of a national television channel which shows a section of Trinamool Congress leaders in a poor light. The video also shows Khalil Ahmed, the commissioner of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation talking about syndicate and its effect on city’s property buyers and real estate developers.
A team of reporters went to the chamber of the municipal commissioner with hidden camera posing as agents from an industry house and recorded Ahmed’s statements while chatting with him.
According to the KMC commissioner the duo from the channel sought help from the municipal commissioner in setting up a research and development unit near Ruby General Hospital on EM Bypass.They complained that it was an uphill task for them to but land because of presence of a real estate syndicate being run by a section of local Trinamool Congress leaders.
Ahmed reportedly told them to take up the matter with Kolkata police authorities. But they requested Ahmed to bail them out by referring the case to a heavyweight ruling party politician. Ahmed reportedly refused to do so. Showing the video before the media representatives, the BJP leaders alleged that the entire city had come under the shelter of the syndicate patronized by the ruling party.
