Pay Rs 2,000 and get data on land reservation in DP
MUMBAI: Citizens can access the proposed ‘Development Plan (DP) remark’, which contains details of the land reservation and its surrounding area, on the internet after paying Rs 2,000. This initiative is being spearheaded under the ‘ease of doing business’ exercise.
The DP remark document is important for people to understand the development potential before going in for reconstruction of societies. Earlier, applicants had to wait for a long time to procure the DP remark and the procedure was time-consuming and involved making several visits to the BMC headquarters.
While explaining the importance of the DP remark, an officer stated that it will ensure that builders and societies cannot cheat people by providing them wrong information about their land potential. “Earlier people were diffident about getting the document as it involved going to the BMC headquarters several times,” said an official. The DP remark shows if there are any reservations on the property or surrounding areas, existing and proposed roads near the plot and if there is any height restriction on the structure due of its proximity to defence establishments.
“It’s good initiative that they deleted the need to seek unwanted approvals that are required for construction. Earlier we would first apply for the city survey report. This application would be processed after about a month,” said Shirish Sukhatme the Practising Engineers, Architects and Town Planners Association.
