Chandigarh Housing Board to e-auction 150 vacant flats
CHANDIGARH: In a first of its kind step, the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) will e-auction all its left-out or old vacant flats in the city.
The board has identified 150 such flats in its initial survey. The auction would be conducted in a phased manner after the completion of the process of the housing scheme of Sector 63, whose forms were recently released for bidders.
In the first phase, 50 flats would be auctioned; the rest later.
For the economic weaker section (EWS) category, the base price would be from Rs 15 to Rs 20 lakh; for low income group (LIG), from Rs 35 to Rs 40 lakh; for middle income group (MIG), from Rs 55 to Rs 60 lakh; and from Rs 75 to Rs 80 lakh for the high income group (HIG) category.
“All these flats will be first repaired by keeping all the facilities in mind and then put up for e-auction. Currently, we have around 500 such flats throughout the city. This exercise will take place after the process of the housing scheme of Sector 63,” said Maninder Singh, chairman, CHB.
The move was crucial as Chandigarh has hardly any major chunk of land available for more housing schemes in the near future.
