Book UP housing board flat with just Rs 10,000 token amount
LUCKNOW: UP Housing Board (UPHDB) will launch an online initiative for people to book flats for a token amount of Rs 10,000. They will be able to select their flat’s location and floor number on the map displayed on the housing board website and block it by paying Rs 10,000 online in a week’s time.
After booking, the allottees will be given a time-period of 7-10 days to check the flat’s status in real time and if they are satisfied with the location and condition of the property, they can go ahead with depositing the registration amount.Additional housing commissioner Rudra Pratap Singh said, “In the given time frame (7-10 days), a person has to deposit registration charges and we would immediately issue a provisional allotment letter to him. Earlier, the process was tedious as one had to pay some part of the property’s value and then have it registered. But here, the allotment letter will be issued in only 7-10 days of booking.”
If a person is not interested in purchasing property after blocking it, Rs 10,000 would not be refunded. A person may not have enough money or may not like flat’s actual condition but he won’t get the money back. For fresh allotment, he has to book again online. Singh said, “Under this, we will first cover those schemes which have many vacant flats. People can scan through properties and select their favourite one online just like they book seats for a movie.”
Online booking will also apply to new launches. Whenever a new housing project will be launched, UPHDB will first follow routine registration process where people come, pay the amount and register their names. But if they find appearing number of candidates less, they will begin online booking for vacant units. Currently, UPHDB has around 2,500 vacant properties in Lucknow and about 2,000 in Ghaziabad.
