Noida officials visit Amrapali Sapphire
NOIDA: A government team on Monday carried out an inspection of Amrapali Sapphire, whose residents’ protest on Twitter led to Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepping down as the realty firm’s brand ambassador earlier this month.
The inspection marked the beginning of a drive in which Noida Authority officials will visit a housing society each day to scrutinise amenities and check compliance with sanctioned layout plans, and comes within a week of CM Akhilesh Yadav promising action against realtors not keeping their promises.
Layout plans have come under the scanner after the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) found large-scale violations in Supertech’s Czar project in Greater Noida and asked the developer to seal 1,009 flats for which sanctions were allegedly not taken.
The Noida Authority inspection team said on Monday that there were several violations at Sapphire. “As the residents had highlighted, we found the number of lifts operating in Sapphire to be less than those in the plan. Also, fire safety measures were not in place,” said S C Gaur, chief architect and planner, Noida. “The project hasn’t been granted the completion certificate, but the developer has handed over possession, a violation of norms. We have asked the developer to provide a timeline for completion of work. They have promised to have the lifts in place in 75 days and finish the balance work in 90 days. We visited another society in Sector 108 and found similar issues,” Gaur added.
On Tuesday, the team will visit Pan Oasis in Sector 70. Currently, about 36 completion certificates are pending with the Authority and 74 housing projects are under construction in various parts of Noida. “We plan to upload sanctioned layout plans on our website www.noidaauthorityonline.com ,” Gaur said.
