Enquiry & legal action : Realty firm Maple Group in trouble
MUMBAI: The state government has directed Mhada to inquire and initiate legal and criminal action against Pune developer Sanjay Agarwal of Maple Group for falsely claiming that his projects are being carried out under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY).
The Housing for All-2022 is an ambitious affordable housing scheme of the central government. Nirmal Kumar Deshmukh, mission director of PMAY said the developer had recently advertised 11-13 housing projects around Pune under this scheme. “None of these schemes have been approved,” he said. “It appears to be a chit fund scam as the developer is asking people to purchase a form for Rs 1,145, and if found eligible, would be given a house for Rs 5 lakh and the government would give another Rs 2.5 lakh as subsidy. The money collected is Rs 1,000 for scrutiny and Rs 145 are service charges.”
The mission directorate has issued a notice to Agarwal for misleading the public as the government has not sanctioned any such schemes. BJP MP Kirit Somaiya had filed a complaint with the mission directorate.
