After AP, Aadhaar card must for land deals in Jharkhand from May
Aadhaar card must for land deals : Jharkhand will follow in the footsteps of Andhra Pradesh by linking Aadhaar cards to land registration. The state department for revenue, registration and land reforms will roll out the new system on a pilot basis in May.
The system will make it easier for buyers to keep tabs on their land holdings and nab land sharks who evade property tax and indulge in fraudulent activities by registering unclear land titles, like benami properties, and under-reporting the value land deals.
Recently, around 65% of land records available with 129 revenue offices (in 19 districts) of 262 have already been digitized under the National Land Records Modernization Programme (NLRMP). The department has also digitized 23,759 maps of 32,759 available.
Inaugurating a dedicated NLRMP cell at Sri Krishna Institute of Public Administration (SKIPA), state minister for revenue, registration and land reforms Amar Kumar Bauri on Tuesday said that department is in talks with Ranchi administration to roll out the system in the state capital. “Since Jharkhand has managed to digitize a significant chunk of land records, the department is planning to start linking Aadhaar card numbers to both new and old right of registrations (RoR),” said Bauri.
Bauri also said linking Aadhar details with land registration will “curb fraudulent activities”. The cell will be imparting training to revenue officials to use digital equipment.
“Around 153 revenue officials and allied staff have been given training. The department has set a July deadline for completing the training process across 262 revenue offices. The process of integrating registration and revenue offices have been completed in Ranchi, Ramgarh, Hazaribag, Lohardaga, Bokaro and East Singhbhum,” said Rajeev Ranjan, director of revenue, registration and land reforms.
